ARTDOCFEST/RIGA round table: “Heroes and antiheroes in documentary film”

Radio Svoboda’s (Freedom – svoboda.org) roundtable this year is dedicated to the theme Heroes and antiheroes in documentary film. One could not imagine this question with regard to fictional movies, because for most, there would be no drama without a villain. In documentary cinema, especially in films which do not deal with events in the past but are filmed in real time with the author being in direct contact with his hero every day, the ethical aspects are unavoidable. One of the examples in this year’s programme is Oleg’s Choice. The authors of the film together with a Russian officer go to the war in Ukraine…
